- Starting the quest
- Talk to Crane

- Terminal password
- Crane's treasure
- Select treasure
- Completing the task
Starting the quest
The quest begins in Wayward.
The mission starts automatically after completing the previous quest - Strength in Numbers. Head to Wayward and follow the Duchess to the top section of the room.
Talk to Crane
You will meet Crane here.
You will meet Crane. Talk to him and then have a conversation with the Duchess and Sol. After the conversation is over, interact with Crane - you will receive the keys necessary for the later part of The Elusive Crane quest in Fallout 76 Wastelanders.
Go to the Gauley Mine Exit
Your destination is Gauley Mine Exit.
Now head to the Gauley Mine Exit. It is located near the Gauley Mine, a place you visited during the Strength in Numbers quest. Go inside - after a while, you will run into a few low-level opponents.
Inside, go to the corridor on the right.
Go to the corridor on the right to reach the objective. However, you should first go along the tracks to the upper part of the location. You will find a chest with some valuable items. After collecting the loot, go to the aforementioned corridor to the right of the mine entrance. In the next room, you will find some Scorched and a door locked with a password.
Terminal password
The door code is 071990.
The terminal's password is 071990. Enter it to open the locked door. Follow the path - you will find another locked door. This time, use the card you got from Crane at the start of the mission.
Crane's treasure
The door is protected by turrets.
Go straight ahead and enter the first door on the left. Watch out for turrets on the ceiling - destroy them. Now you have to go to the next room to open the blocked entrance.
You need to go to the computer in the next room.
There is a computer in the adjacent room - using hacking to connect your Pip-Boy. Hacking is done identically to the other terminals in Fallout 76 Wastelanders.
Now go back to the room where you destroyed the turrets on the ceiling and stand in front of the door. The scanning process will begin. After a while, the entrance will be opened.
Select treasure
You can choose one weapon.
You are in a room with a few vending machines. Each of the terminals has a weapon from a different category - a pistol, a one-handed melee weapon, a shotgun, or an energy weapon. Take the token from the lectern and put it in the vending machine of your choice. You can only choose one weapon - choose the weapon type you use the most.
The Elusive Crane - Rewards
The weapons from Crane's treasure are legendary and they scale with your character level (up to level 50). This means that if you complete a mission on level 50, you will get the best version of a given weapon. Scaling only affects the basic statistics of the weapons. Unique effects are always the same:
- Shotgun - Anti-armor effect and increased critical damage by 50%.
- Two-handed melee weapon - Bloodied effect and increased attack speed by 40%.
- One-handed melee weapon - the Executioner's effect and deflecting 50% of blocked damage back to the attacker.
- Unarmed - Vampires effect and increased attack strength by 40%.
- Shotgun - Suppressors effect and increased firing rate by 25%.
- Energy weapon - Furious effect and damage increased by 10% while aiming.
- Pistol - Two shot effect and shots pushing enemies backward.
Completing the task
Finally, you can go back to Wayward.
Once you have picked the prize, you can go back to Wayward. You learn that the group has been attacked - the conflict can be resolved peacefully (requires Intelligence at level 4 or higher) or through combat.
How to get the Radicals Face Mask?
You get the legendary Radicals Face Mask by choosing a peaceful solution to the conflict. To do this, you must have Intelligence on at least level 4. After selecting this dialog option, the attacking group will leave the Wayward. This will give you the mask - it increases damage and energy resistance.
Regardless of how the conflict is resolved, you will finish The Elusive Crane quest. You will receive another Fallout 76 Wastelanders mission called The New Arrivals.
